On my first outting with the new camera spotted this in Houston, yes the dog is a real one.

I'm also not into none optical zoom so basically I tend to ignore any digital zoom capabilites on these things (at the moment it's switched off and I can zoom it in post-processing).

The smart zoom is just if you are shooting at a lower resoltuion than full (like anyone is going to do that) it wil use the full resolution of the ccd to crated the digitally zoomed lower resolution image.
