This is just so obvious, but still really neat. Take a picture of whatever is behind your computer and set it as the wall paper, makes the screen look transparent. Check out the images on flickr.
Back to the volcano theme:

Yes, you too can plan your spring vacation to commemorate the massive eruption of Mount St. Helens. On the face of it, it seems like a tasteful enough idea. But just have a look at their website and see if you can find any information that isn't directed at the tourist market. This creeps me out; next they'll be selling "Hindenburgers" in Lakehurst, New Jersey.

Hola everyone back in Houston!
Havin' a blast out here in New Orleans... but busy as heck!
Just wanted to drop a line and say WAZZZZZZZZZup.

Ever play LASER tag, well now you can do it and get a little positive re-inforcement (or should that be negative) when you get hit, see shocking guns. Yeah, you really do get a shock when you get hit.
So (ahh slapped wrists) now that Trey as commited to his new tiny MP3 player, I have managed to find a review. Nice looking piece of kit.
Demoralizing thought o' the day: I could be much more important if I was in a persistently vegetative state.

So do you have $1000 dollars you don't need? Do you like Star Wars? Check out this light sabre, supposedly one of the most realistic you can get, with sound and plasma light effects.

One has to wonder how much longer the drive towards more and more realistic sabres can go on before someone actually figures out a way of making a real one...

More in the luddism (spelled wrong the other day, just so you know that I know) vein.
Here's a shoe with a little CPU to help it adapt to your size & running mechanics:
Adidas Link (warning - it behaves rather obtrusively)
Wow, so what else has such power to dynamically adapt to your running needs? Why the unconfined human foot of course. Maybe that's a message a shoe company doesn't want you to hear. Then again, the option of safely running barefoot in Houston may not be there so perhaps I am at the mercy of shoe technology.
Note the new Adidas slogan "Impossible is nothing". Actually, "Impossible" is an adjective. Why are you making it a noun?

The natural corollary to yesterday's post is that incredibly useful things, like Bluetooth, I find very uncool. Here's why:
BlueSniper Bluetooth Hacker Can Sniff Bluetooth Devices Up to 1/2 Mile Away

I think there's an inverse relationship between things that I think are cool and their usefulness. Take this page for example:
Trey's Font
That's right "Trey" is spelled out using book covers from works all authored by people named Trey. Maybe it's a little less cool if I have to explain it...

Now that's what I call pretty:

No, no I mean the 82 inch T.V. pity it wont be available for 18 months.
So in a quick follow on to my earlier post about using Jeyo Remote and a T610 to control powerpoint, here is the next great step forward: You can now use your bluetooth headset to control powerpoint, well backwards and forwards anyway. Now if I could just figure out why my bluetooth dongle will not work when the laptop is in the dock...

Well, if there is a hell, let there be no doubt I'm headed there for having a good laugh at this guy:

Now normally I'm not into burning books, in fact the very thought of it makes me shiver. However when I came across this I just couldn't resist :-)
