Update:
Good news, after two nights in the hospital and several tests, the doctors think that everything is under control and that we are back on track, and all is safe.
It was a rough couple of days. The second drug Magnesium sulfate can be very rough on the mother. The common side effects are:
* Flushing
* Nausea
* Vomiting
* Palpitations
* Headache
* General muscle weakness
* Lethargy
* Constipation
But the good news is that after what must have seemed like ages for the two of us, the contractions stopped and all the other tests showed that the baby was fine, and that she was back on track for out August 15th delivery.
The doctor ordered her to stay home for the rest of the week, gradually increasing her activity and monitoring herself for further contractions.
If by Monday of next week she is ok, then she can resume normal activities (and even go back to work).
Needless to say we are pretty happy. The pregnancy was going so perfect, I guess this was just a reminder that it is still a risky business, and there are no 'easy rides'.
I am taking one more day off (working at home actually) to watch over her today - just incase. If she is ok, I'll be back at the office tomorrow - for the first time since starting my travels on the 16th of last month.
Thanks for all of those who wrote, called, and thought of us.
Hopefully the blog will now return to its normal jovial mood.
And now, as the immortal words of Monty Python, “for something completely different…”
